GRP Safety have recently completed the installation of GRP Grating used for Service Riser Flooring at a new build project in Cambridge for Trumpington Community College. GRP Safety were called in to install all GRP Flooring to the open service riser voids within the building, which were set over 3 to 4 floors.
The GRP Safety Service Riser Installation Team took just 4 days to install all flooring in the 17 open risers covering approx. 60 square metres. Working with several other trades during the installation works for Morgan Sindall.
38mm thick Grey GRP Grating was used to create a walkable open mesh flooring in all of the open service voids. GRP Pultruded Angle and I Beams were used to create the support structure for the fibreglass grating flooring to be supported on. These pultruded profiles were fixed to the concrete slab using heavy duty anchor fixings.

Once the support structure was installed, which was achieved using a standard scaffold tower, erected by the GRP Safety PASMA trained operative. The flooring was placed on top and secured in place using bespoke ‘M’ clip fixings to ensure no movement in the grating.
In this application, the GRP mesh flooring was installed to cover all of the open void, the holes for the services would be done at a later stage by the trades running the services. All GRP support profiles were positioned (with the aid of service drawings) to allow service cut outs to be made without effecting the support structure.
