GRP Moulded Grating Description

grp-grating-application14
GRP Grating is a structural fibreglass grating product that is made by hand using GRP rovings and resin to offer once cured and exceptional grating panel that has the benefit of bi-directional strength. As the grating is made in a continuous run without the fibres ever been broken, small and medium cut outs of the grating does not effect the panel.
The grating lends itself to many different applications from service riser grating for open riser shaft voids, overhead walkways and gantries to heavy industrial trench covers. With its many benefits over traditional materials, GRP Moulded Grating should be the ultimate choice for the 21st Century.
Generally all stock panels of GRP Grating have an anti slip top surface which offers excellent slip resistance for applications for pedestrian use. The anti slip aggregate used for our GRP Grating is harder wearing than any other grating on the market (don’t take our word for it, order your sample to test).
With choices in panel thicknesses for increased spans and loadings and several different panel sizes to ensure virtually any application can be dealt with. Three different stock colours are available but any colour is available with no minimum order quantity just an extended lead time.

Key Benefits

  • Non Slip Top Surface

A hard wearing anti slip grit is added to the top of the grating for excellent slip resistance in wet and oily conditions

  • Tough fibreglass construction

Moulded grating is made using strong fibres that are never broken during the manufacturing process to give a bi-directional structurally strong grating

  • Fire Retardant

All Grating has been tested to BS476: Part 7 that covers Fire tests on building materials and structures, the grating met Class 1 flame spread rating

  • Meets British Standards BS 4592-6:2008

Our Grating meets the standard for Industrial GRP (fibreglass) flooring and open mesh stair treads

  • Chemical Resistant

All gratings are made using ISO resin as standard which offers excellent chemical resistance for many different chemical substances

  • Lightweight

All gratings are exceptionally strong but are lightweight at the same time and much lighter than traditional materials like steel and timber, standard 25mm thick mesh weighing only 12.5kgs per square metre

  • Non Sparking

A big benefit of the GRP grating is it can be cut without the need for any hot works permits and will not spark if metal tools are dropped, eliminating any fire risks

Grating Accessories

GRP Grating Clips Fixings
Hooks over two load bars for maximum security. Provided bolt (with clip set) goes through centre of clip and through drilled support then the washer and nut is securedHooks over one load bar, generally in the corner of the grating. Provided bolt (with clip set) goes through centre of clip and through drilled support then the washer and nut is securedFor joining two grating panels/pieces together. Slots over two joining load bars. Underside of clip has a welded nut and the provided bolt screws through the two holes in the C clip and tightens into the welded nut
Adjustable Pedestal Feet
Adjustable pedestals are used to elevate GRP Grating panels up from the base substrateThe polypropylene pedestals are exceptionally strong and able to deal with heavy industrial loadsMany different heights can be dealt with from 17mm to 850mm and each pedestal (from 74mm upwards) comes with an adjustable slope corrector to give angles of 0-5%
Grating Ramp
GRP Grating Ramps joins to standard grating panels to offer a chamfered leading edge to floor sitting panels. Available in 25mm or 38mm thick, 120mm deep and up to 3660mm long panels, they have a chamfered covered top leading edge with one row of open square holes at the back. This means that the ramp can easily be joined to existing grating panels by use of a ‘C’ joining clip or butted up the grating panel and fixed down in place.
