GRP Anti Slip Stair Tread Covers installed at Primary School
GRP Anti Slip Stair Tread Covers installed at Primary School
Melcombe Primary School situated in Hammersmith London is a Grade II listed building designed and built in 1901. It has various staircases around the old building that has various different surfaces applied over the years to help with slip resistance. However these surfaces were not suitable as a long term solution and had deteriorated over the years. GRP Safety were asked to install their GRP anti slip Stair Tread Covers to offer a long term solution for many years to come. The new GRP Tread Covers have the all important contrasting coloured nosings as required under Building Regulations (for new build) and DDA. |
The old surfaces, which inlcuded a PVC coating and also aluminium nosings with inserts were removed, completely cleaned down and prepared for the new stair tread covers. Several of the staircases had extra deep landings, to achieve full coverage of the area, the standard stair tread covers were used for the nosing and the GRP Flat Sheet cut to suit the rest of the area. The sheets were simply butted up to the stair tread covers. |
